On sale next month, the newest member of the Audi family will hit showrooms boasting a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). To earn TSP+ status, a vehicle must achieve a Good rating in all of the basic crashworthiness tests -- moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint as well as the grueling small overlap front test - and also offer a front crash prevention system that earns a basic, advanced or superior mark. The A3's optional package merited an advanced grade.
In awarding its top rating to this compact sedan, the IIHS noted that the new 2015 Audi A3 also is the first Audi model to earn either the 2014 Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award and the first ever to earn a good or acceptable rating in the make-or-break small overlap front crash regimen.
