Land Rover will literally extend the range of its lineup for the coming year with the addition of a long-wheelbase Range Rover L model that makes its world debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. On sale late in the first quarter, the new 2014 Range Rover L will be joined by another distinctive variation on the theme, a range-topping Autobiography Black Edition. Only 100 units of this limited-run, ultra-spec Range Rover - all long-wheelbase models -are due to be allocated to the U.S. market for 2014, with the first 25 to be finished in custom Valloire White pearlescent paint.

This is the first time in nearly 20 years that Land Rover will offer an extended-wheelbase Range Rover model. Initially available on Supercharged and Autobiography trims, the long-wheelbase Range Rover L adds 8.0-inches of length between its B-pillar and the rear wheels to gain an extra 5.5 inches of rear legroom and increase seatback incline from nine to 17 degrees on models fitted with the executive seating package. All versions also will feature a panoramic sunroof and power window shades.

The primo Autobiography Black Edition takes this already legendary full-size SUV to an entirely new level of luxury. The first vehicle designed and crafted by Land Rover's new "Engineered To Order" division, it matches elegance with exclusivity in a subtly understated but decidedly tasteful way. Exterior changes to the Autobiography Black Edition includes a unique design and finish on its grille and front/side vents, custom rear lamps, black and chrome badging and additional brightwork accents plus exclusive 7-spoke/21-inch alloy wheels with a high-gloss polished finish. However, it's the interior that really sets the Autobiography Black Edition apart from its siblings.

The cabin remake on the Autobiography Black Edition starts with exclusive color combinations -- Ebony/Lunar, Espresso/Tan and Dark Cherry/Ivory - for its premium leather upholstery materials. The individual power-activated front and rear seats are designed for long-range comfort, with the forward units offering 18-way adjustability along with a massage function and the right rear bucket adding a power-recline calf rest. Other highlights of the spacious aft quarters include a pair of 10.2-inch entertainment screens plus a custom veneered center console with two electrically deployable tables covered in black leather that have integrated USB charging sockets and dual cup holders. There's even a supplemental chiller compartment with extra space for glasses and bottles. As finishing touches, this ultimate Range Rover boasts variable-intensity LED ambient lighting in 10 colors, brushed stainless steel tailgate accent and door-sill plates that feature illuminated "Autobiography Black" script.

Pricing for the 2014 Range Rover L and 2014 Range Rover Autobiography Black Edition models will be announced closer to their actual on-sale dates. However, you can be sure the sticker on of these new ultra-trick exercises will contain six digits.
