Gaining a bit of functional polish for the coming year, the 2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will arrive in dealers soon boasting a selection of welcome upgrades. Genesis Coupe engines carry over unchanged, with the 2.0T, 2.0T R-Spec and 2.0T Premium sharing the same 274-horsepower/2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injected 4-cylinder and the 3.8 R-Spec, 3.8 Grand Touring and 3.8 Ultimate featuring a naturally aspirated 348-horse/3.8-liter direct-injected V6. However, the operation of both transmissions has been improved. The 8-speed automatic with Shiftronic features new rev-matching capability on downshifts while the 6-speed manual - available only on R-Spec Coupes and the 3.8 Grand Touring model -- benefits from new carbon synchronizer rings that are more robust and help deliver even smoother cog changes and adds a new Hill Start Assist feature. For 2014, the 2.0T engine also boasts a bit more aural excitement potential "during spirited driving" thanks to the fitment of an intake sound induction pipe.

The racier R-spec models get more deeply bolstered sport seats and the Coupe's available navigation system gains better graphics and functionality.
