Due to arrive at Fiat salons in California this summer, the electric-powered 2014 Fiat 500e has been priced at $33,200 before any incentives and will be offered on a 36-month lease for $999 down and $199 per month. Those latter numbers are exactly the same as the deal available on a conventional Fiat 500 Pop model. According to Fiat, California residents who prefer to buy a 500e could see the effective price drop to as low as $20,500 after taking advantage of the existing federal, state and Fiat incentives. That's about $200 below the sticker on a Fiat 500 Lounge model.

To help potentially eliminate any range anxiety, the automaker also announced that its first EV will come standard with the Fiat 500e Pass Program. This innovative plan grants customers no-charge access to a conventional rental car - including a Fiat 500, 500L, Dodge Dart or Chrysler 200 - for up to 12 days annually with no mileage restrictions during the first three years of ownership. The Fiat 500e Pass Program is part of an agreement between Fiat and Enterprise Holdings, the organization that owns Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental. Valid at more than 6,200 locations in the U.S., the Fiat 500e Pass Program also will permit customers to upgrade to a larger vehicle using either additional specified day credits or by simply paying the difference in rates.
Revealed at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show last November, the 2014 Fiat 500e is fitted with a 111-horsepower electric motor fed by a 24kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that can be replenished in less than four hours on a 240V circuit using its on-board charger. Carrying EPA best-in-class city/highway/combined marks of 122/108/116 MPGe, the 500e has an estimated per-charge range of 87 miles. In addition to its unique aero-enhancing cosmetic and functional touches, this zero-emissions Fiat comes with a standard on-board navigation system that shows the location of all available local charging stations - including the four in each Fiat Salon. It also features a smartphone app that expands the database info to include all charge points throughout the entire state.
