Set to make their first appearance in U.S. trim, the new 2014 BMW 328d Sedan and 328d Wagon will debut at the New York Auto Show. While full specifications await their formal reveal, the automaker has released some preliminary powertrain stats on the vehicles.
Both the 2014 328d Sedan and Wagon will be fitted with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 180 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a standard 8-speed automatic transmission, these new 3 Series models are capable of running 0-60 mph in about 7.2 seconds and BMW is projecting fuel economy numbers "could well exceed 40 mpg," although formal EPA ratings are still pending.
The 2014 328d Sedan and 328d Wagon will go on sale here in late summer, and both will offer BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system as an option. Specific pricing and packaging details will be announced closer to their arrival in showrooms. BMW also will announce the availability of a number of new connectivity apps and services in New York as well as a new 4G LTE mobile hotspot accessory which is expected to be offered on this new 3 Series turbodiesel duo.
