With an all-new 2014 version due for reveal at the New York Auto Show in April, the 2013 Cadillac CTS and high-performance CTS-V lineups are bidding farewell with a pair of limited-production variants. Each introduces a unique new exterior color and also features a number of cosmetic and functional upgrades as options.

Offered only on the 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and limited to just 100 units, the Silver Frost Edition will arrive at dealers next month. Its signature appearance cue comes from distinctive paint in a low-gloss matte finish. Cadillac says the look -- which still allows the paint to display a low "sparkle" under certain lighting conditions -- results from applying a "30-gloss" clear coat, as opposed to the normal "80-gloss" formula found in standard finishes. While designed to be as durable as conventional paint, Cadillac does note that the car must be hand washed. Beyond its custom paint, the 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Silver Frost Edition will be available with dedicated options that include yellow or red Brembo brake calipers, high-polished or satin-graphite alloy wheels and a suede-covered steering wheel and shift knob.

Although its production run will be limited, no specific build numbers have been set for the 2013 Cadillac CTS Stealth Blue Edition, which will be offered on the CTS Coupe as well as the CTS-V Coupe, Sedan and Wagon. All variants will be painted Stealth Blue, a blue-grey hue that Cadillac describes as "a vibrant new color in a more traditional metallic finish." In addition to offering a special "Twilight Blue" leather interior package on all except the Wagon, Stealth Blue Editions will be available with a dark-finish grille, satin graphite wheels with silver-painted brake calipers and Recaro performance seats.

Pricing has not been finalized on any of these CTS special variants. However, the Silver Frost Edition is expected to add about $4,000 to the $65,410 base price of a 2013 CTS-V Coupe. Since all 100 units will be pre-packaged by Cadillac before hitting showrooms on an allocated basis, expect that most also will be fitted with a good deal of the optional items.  The Stealth Blue Edition will add about a $6,200 premium to each of the CTS-V models that open at $65,410 and bump the $39,800 starting price of a standard 2013 CTS Coupe by about $4,400. However, Cadillac notes that Stealth Blue Edition buyers will have far more latitude in selecting items from the extras list.
