2013 Audi Allroad - 2012 Detroit Auto Show

A classic name and a classic package return to America with the Detroit introduction of the 2013 Audi Allroad. Already on sale in Europe, the new Audi Allroad is based on the existing Audi A4 Avant platform. However, when it arrives here in the spring, the Allroad will officially replace the A4 Avant in Audi's U.S. lineup.

To help it live up to its name, the new Audi Allroad has an additional 1.5 inches of ground clearance compared to the A4 Avant and is slightly taller as well a being 2.3 inches wider. Exterior changes include a unique single frame grille design with vertical chrome struts, stainless steel skid plates and side sills, raised aluminum-optic roof rails and matte-finish lower bumpers and wheel arches along with an 18-inch wheel/tire fitment. Audi will offer a monochrome appearance treatment as well as a 19-inch wheel/tire fitment as options.

The Allroad's well-appointed cabin features standard eight-way power seats, Aluminum Trigon inlays and a Panorama sunroof along with a split-folding rear seat that can expand the cargo capacity from 27 to 50 cubic feet. Key options include an appropriately named sport interior package and a Driver Assistance package (adaptive cruise control, dynamic steering and active lane assist), adaptive front lighting, Audi side assist, a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen premium audio system and Audi Connect that turns the car into a mobile hotspot for up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices.

All versions of the 2013 Audi Allroad will be fitted with the firm's 2.0-liter turbocharged TFSI four-cylinder engine that makes 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It will be backed by an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission that works in conjunction with Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system that also is standard. Expect pricing information on the new Audi Allroad to be released closer to its on-sale date.
