A number of welcome enhancements accompany Honda's midsize multi-purpose transporter into the coming model year, but one item won't be making the trek forward: the original Accord badging it has worn since being introduced for 2010. Honda says the change simply reflects what buyers have always called it anyway. As part of the transition, the 2012 Honda Crosstour steps out of its Accord shadow by adding a number of new comfort/convenience standards to the baseline EX model headed by a rearview camera, auto on/off headlamps, Bluetooth HandsFree Link and a USB audio interface, popular features already found on the up-level Crosstour variants. The exterior color palette also shifts a bit, with Twilight Blue Metallic replacing Glacier Blue Metallic and Basque Red Pearl supplanting Tango Red Pearl.
The 2012 Honda Crosstour model lineup will carry-on without change, and continue to offer standard front-drive and available Real Time 4WD configurations, without (EX) or with (EX-L/4WD EX-L) leather upholstery and/or Honda's Satellite-linked Navigation System (EX-L Navi/4WD EX-L Navi). All 2012 Crosstours will continue to be powered by a 3.5-liter/271-horsepower V6 fitted with Honda's Variable Cylinder Management system matched with a five-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing on the front-drive 2012 Honda Crosstour EX opens at $31,150; reflecting a modest $350 bump to offset its added equipment while stickers on the front-drive and 4WD EX-L models rise by $100 each, to $33,800 and $35,250 respectively. The top-line EX-L Navi Crosstour iterations remain unchanged at $35,900 and $37,350.
