Although its formal reveal takes place next month in China at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show in China, a handful of official details about the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have just been released. Charged with giving the eighth generation of this perennially popular mid-size U.S. sedan a new level of global appeal, the design team opted for a more athletic and contemporary look that it hopes will markedly elevate the car's international curbside profile. The 2013 Malibu's wider, more purposeful stance is reinforced by a broader shoulder line and dynamically rendered hood and deck lid surfaces that are set off by stronger wheel forms. These are effectively complemented by a host of performance-oriented cues borrowed from both the Camaro and Corvette, not the least of which are the car's high-profile LED taillamps seen in the teaser image.
Those not planning to attend the Shanghai Auto Show can watch the live global premier of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu on the automaker's Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Chevrolet) on Monday April 18th at 8:30 PM EST. The car also will be on display at the New York Auto Show starting April 20th where Chevy promises that more information on the U.S.-spec version will be presented.
