Adding even more choice to its already variant-rich 911 lineup, Porsche has announced that two additional iterations are headed to the showroom this fall: the 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe and 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet. These new range-toppers of the Carrera clan step up the goodness quotient of the 911 Carrera GTS that rolled onto the scene earlier this year by matching its more potent 408-horsepower/3.8-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with Porsche's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system from the 911 Carrera 4S and completing the package with a number of dedicated functional and cosmetic enhancements.

In addition to the signature "widebody" configuration that brings more prominent rear wheel arches to every all-wheel-drive 911, these new Carrera 4 GTS models are visually distinguished by the same tasteful tweaks found on their rear-drive GTS kin. These include a SportDesign front splitter, black side skirts from the 911 GT2, a black lower rear valance panel, twin-paired black tailpipes with polished, nano-coated inner shells and center-locking 19-inch RS Spyder design wheels, finished in gloss black with polished accents. Inside, the cabin is finished in a largely black motif rich in Alcantara trim at all touch points and boasts deeply bolstered sport buckets and a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel.

While the engine in the 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS can be backed by a standard six-speed manual transmission or optional paddle-shifted seven-speed PDK automatic, all versions share the electronically-controlled Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system that can instantly ship torque from front to rear as well a standard mechanical limited-slip differential to further enhance stability. Fitting either Coupe or Cabriolet with the six-speed transmission will bring up 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph while going the PDK route will trim the top end by one mph but cut the 0-60 mph interval to 4.0 ticks when the car also is fitted with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus.

Base price of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe is $111,150 while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet will open at be priced at $121,050.
