Seeking to reach younger, hipper potential buyers in a more engaging manner, Mitsubishi Motors has designed a program that offers anyone over 18 with a valid driver's license the chance to participate in the world's first online test drive of its new 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport model. Those who qualify will be able to take one of Mitsu's new compact crossovers on a virtual tour of a closed course from the comfort of their own computer using dedicated remote control software and hardware paired with a unique system interface.
Part of an overall market introduction that commences soon, the Mitsubishi Live Drive online program for the new Outlander Sport will run from November 1-10. Anyone interested can start signing up on October 15 at the www.outlandersport.com microsite to obtain more details as well a special code that will be needed to secure a spot in line for a live test drive.
"We have worked hard to devise a truly innovative marketing campaign utilizing cutting edge technologies to recreate a genuine Mitsubishi-experience that engages consumers upfront about the new 2011 Outlander Sport and the Mitsubishi Motors brand," said Gregory Adams, vice president of marketing, Mitsubishi Motors North America. According to Adams, creating a realistic look and feel for those on the other end of the online test drive required the use of multiple on-board video cameras linked with advanced electronic receivers and state-of-the-art servo motors that can precisely control the vehicle's dynamics while keeping it fully in sync with GPS mapping of the course itself. In addition to the drive, participants will be able to collect an assortment of "feature pods" that provide additional insight about various features and amenities that will be found in the new Outlander Sport.
