Continuing its tradition of using its youth-oriented compact crossover as a platform from which to spin affordable limited edition packages, Kia revealed a pair of new one-offs that it confirms have "production intent" at the SEMA Show.

The 2011 Kia Soul White Tiger Concept draws its inspiration from this year's Asian Lunar year animal. Based on a Soul+ model, it sets off an all- white exterior with distinctive tiger-themed graphics while the interior is trimmed in black leather. In addition to its grey side stripe appliqués and cat-claw variation on the rear hatch, the Soul White Tiger Concept kit includes color-keyed bumpers, a sport spoiler, alloy fuel-filler door, black fender vents and unique white-finish/five-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the premium seating appointments get complemented by the addition of heated front buckets, leather wrapping for the steering wheel and shift knob, push-button starting, illuminated sill plates and special sport-design floormats with contrast stitching.

Playing off of the continuing popularity of its incredibly popular series of award-winning Soul ads that feature a hip-hop hamster set, the 2011 Kia Soul Hamstar Concept takes a bit more urban tack, melding unique graphics with character cues culled from the recently introduced Hamstar apparel line. The exterior of the high-profile Hamstar Concept matches bright red paint with a various touches of contrasting black trim elements. Highlighting the look is a hood appliqué that teams the signature "Star" logo with off-black matte-finish side stripes that Kia contends are reminiscent of warm-up pants. Its street-smart character is further set off by 18-inch alloys that feature a polished-aluminum and gloss-black finish. The red/black motif continues inside, as well. The seats are covered in a sport cloth that mixes the two colors while black chenille stars accent the back side of the front headrests. Custom Hamstar floormats and a rubberized Hamstar badge complete the look.

While no pricing was released for either of these new Soul variants,
Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing & communications, KMA, did confirm that at least the production version of the 2011 Kia Soul White Tiger will be hitting the showrooms in the coming weeks.
