2011 BMW 335i Performance Edition - Speeding off into the sunset
One more bit of good news for fans of the outgoing-generation BMW 3 Series. Buyers in the U.S. will soon have a chance to order a tastefully stealthy version of the 2011 335i model: a Performance Edition that will be based around a Stage 1 power kit upgrade. This chip-only tweak bumps pony count on the car’s 3.0-liter turbo six by 20 and adds 32 lb-ft of torque to the mix with the six-speed Steptronic automatic, bringing those stats to 320 and 332. It adds the same 20 horses but only 17 lb-ft more torque on 335i’s with the six-speed manual transmission. BMW says that extra grunt will drop the 0-60 mph time from 5.5 to 5.3 seconds. The 2011 335i Performance Edition also nets black-finish grille elements like the 335is pictured here and special ID badging.
The 2011 BMW 335i Performance Edition can be ordered directly from dealers new or retrofitted to any 2011 335i/335ix equipped with the Sport or M-Sport Packages. Cost for this upgrade -- officially option code ZMZ -- is a most reasonable $550 and availability will begin in August.
