Nearly 6,000 spot welds hold the nearly three-ton car's numerous aluminum and high-strength steel body panels together, and some of the body's joints are filled and hand-sanded before the numerous coats of lacquer are applied, so as to create a joint-free, hewn-from-a-single-piece appearance.
