2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Staying the Course

As the bread and butter of the German automaker's sedan lineup, the introduction of a new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a big deal. And while we'll have to wait until the Geneva Auto Show in March for the official introduction of the heavily revised E-Class (its basic architecture remains the same as the current model's), we've seen and learned quite a bit already. For instance, the inspiration for headlights designed to resemble precision cut gem stones came from cubist philosophy. On a less lofty note, the next E-Class will offer a bunch of cool technology, including a blind spot detection system, a lane departure warning system, a drowsiness detection system and a night view assist system. The E-Class arrives this summer offering the same 268-horsepower V6 and 382-horsepower V8 engines available in the current model. The 507-horsepower E63 AMG will debut later in the year, followed in 2010 by the fuel-efficient BlueTEC diesel.
