Although the 2010 Kia Sorento
will make its official debut at the Seoul Motor Show in April, rumor has it that the redesigned mid-size sport ute will also make an appearance at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The rendering at left is one of several that the automaker has released, and from it, you can clearly see the far more contemporary design direction the vehicle is taking. Expect this new Sorento to have a more passenger-car-like body unit design (as opposed to the current body-on-frame platform), front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations, and a choice of engines that may include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or 3.8-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. In the rest of the world, the Sorento will get a 2.2-liter clean diesel under the hood, so there is always the chance (fingers crossed) that such a powerplant will make its way to America. Expect to see the 2010 Sorento in U.S. showrooms later this year.
