A one-off at the moment, a productionized Acura ZDX
will arrive in dealer showrooms this fall. Blending the visual elements of coupe
designs with sophisticated powertrain and packaging features, Acura believes this futuristic four-door liftback will carve its own sizable niche in an emerging market segment. The ZDX matches its "powerful" VTEC V6 engine with a new six-speed automatic transmission that features Sequential SportShift. A similar level of built-in performance bias also is evident in its crisply tuned, fully independent suspension augmented by Acura's traction-maxing Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. While the panoramic glass roof in the ZDX show car will likely make it to volume-build status, we can only hope that the nifty single-piece all-glass rear hatch and those 20-inch wheels also make the cut. Acura has confirmed that in addition to its richly-appointed and space-efficient interior the ZDX will offer numerous premium options, including voice-recognition Navigation, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic and Weather, Acura/ELS Surround premium audio and Bluetooth as well as a blind-spot information system, and a rear-view camera with both wide-angle and top-down imaging.
