Is 425 horsepower absolutely necessary? Rarely. So Dodge
will offer Challenger R/T and SE models to complement the thundering SRT8 version that re-introduced the nameplate. The R/T will feature a new 375-horsepower version of the automaker's 5.7-liter HEMI V8. With the first manual transmission offered in a 21st-century HEMI vehicle, Dodge claims the R/T will launch to 60 mph in less than six seconds. The Challenger SE will sport a 250-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 matched with a four-speed automatic transmission. The 2009 Dodge Challengers arrive Fall 2008 with an expected starting price in the low $20,000 range.
