The second-generation Z4 goes on sale worldwide May 9. In the U.S., the
2009 BMW Z4 sDrive30i will feature a starting sticker price of $46,575 and include a 255-horsepower inline-six engine that's 40 ponies stronger than its predecessor. The 2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i will start at $52,475 and include a 300-horsepower, twin-turbocharged inline-six engine with a 45-horespower advantage over the outgoing top-line Z4. Both versions will feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. The sDrive30i will offer a traditional six-speed automatic, while the high-potency sDrive35i will offer BMW's new seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic. So equipped, BMW claims the Z4 is capable of scooting to 60 miles per hour in 5.0 seconds.
