Due to arrive at dealers in late summer, the 2011 Kia Forte Hatchback made its first appearance in New York. Although details are somewhat limited -- even its formal name is still up in the air -- this newest Forte family member displayed a revised front grille and lower valence design along with restyled alloy wheels that will be implemented throughout the rest of the 2011 Forte lineup. In addition to its more spacious cargo area, the new five-door Forte also boasts available push-button starting and steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for its optional automatic transmission. Like other 2011 Forte models, it will also offer an optional navigation system.
Although engine choices for this new hatch will be the same 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter four-cylinder motivators found in the Sedan and Koup, the 2011 Kia Forte 5-Door will be fitted with a standard six-speed manual transmission. Previously used only in Forte SX models, it, too, will become the base cog-changer across the Forte lineup.
