2009 Volkswagen Routan: The Return of the Vee-Dub Van

The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country have a new sibling. Volkswagen's new Routan minivan shares its architecture, powertrains and assembly line with Chrysler's minivans, but offers distinct styling, a totally unique (and much nicer) interior and suspension tuning that promises more eager handling. Niceties include second- and third-row video screens, touch screen navigation, a power liftgate and dual power sliding doors. The Routan will also offer Chrysler's 197- and 251-horsepower V6 engines, each attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen says the Routan will start below $25,000.
