It wasn't long ago that the premium compact
crossover segment consisted of not much more than the
BMW X3 and decidedly less successful
Land Rover Freelander (now LR2). Today, it's the fastest growing segment in the industry. In addition to a 281-horsepower, turbocharged, six-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive, the stylish XC60 will of course sport a slew of safety features. For instance, the XC60 can sense an imminent front-end collision and, if the driver doesn't react, automatically apply the brakes. Look for the XC60 to arrive early in 2009 at prices expected to start in the low $30,000 range.
