2008 smart fortwo: And You Thought the MINI was Tiny

After at least one false start, the tiny smart fortwo is finally coming to America. Measuring not quite nine feet in length and weighing just 1,700 pounds, the fortwo is able to make due with a small three-cylinder engine good for 70 horsepower. The company says it will reach 60 miles per hour in about 13 seconds on its way to a top speed of about 90 mph. With those dimensions and performance figures, we'd expect better fuel economy than the automaker's predicted EPA rating of 33 city/40 highway miles per gallon. The coupe and convertible will start at about $12,000 and $17,000, respectively, and arrive early in 2008.
