"I purchased the sport model back in 2010. I had always loved the way these cars looked, and decided that I would just buy one because. Horrible, horrible mistake. Unfortunately for me, I did not do my research on this car prior to purchase, and I should have. I only owned this car for 3 months before I sold it, and everything that could have possible gone wrong in those 3 months did. I pored more than $2500 into this car in repairs during that time. While this car looked very nice, and had a great interior, that is about all it had going for it that was good."

Pros: "great car on the road, runs good, looks good,"

Cons: "no cup holders, not starting"

"I've had this car for 4yrs.It runs great on the road the only problem I have is after traveling from point A-B then onto another destination when I go to start it up (nothing)then I have to exit vehicle lock unlock sit and wait up to 30 min. Do the lock unlock mess with rolling down then up windows before it restarts this has become frustrating and I feel unsafe sometimes having to wait in parking lots until it decides to start. If I didn't have this issue wouldn't even consider selling it. I love the style of the vehicle and the upkeep.1998 Cadillac catera."

"Love my Caddy, my friends & family all want my car. It has a great look, still after all these years. Love the sports mode for some get up and go! Things that could improve are fuel economy, :/ The smell of f oil burning, but no leaks. Tricky sunroof! I would buy this car again! My car has over 216,000 miles"

Pros: "Fun to drive. Luxurious and Sporty."

Cons: "Expensive to Repair"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 3

"I absolutely love this car. Pride of ownership. Luxurious, thick, leather seats. Still, stylish after 14 years. Smooth ride. Great acceleration. Auto dimmer on the rearview mirror. However, it is German made and it costs a small fortune to repair and believe me, it has practically had everything done -- including replacing the hood latch ($$$). Right now, the speedometer doesn't work and internet research shows this to be a common problem that should have been recalled. The part costs about $400 and a mechanic can put it on for about $100. Do I want to spend another $500. For in-city driving, I can do without a speedometer. Other Catera owners say they use a GPS to tell them how fast they are going. Do I want to sell the car, as-is, or hold on to it because I do love this car and it drives so smoothly. It is like driving a couch with a steering wheel."
