"We bought this car from our mechanic. I have had it for 3-4 months. It has cost me , on average, $600 a month to keep it on the road. Fuel pump bad, needed special tool. Water pump bad. Key bad. They don't make that part anymore. Except for the mechanical part, it's very nice."

"I have been fortunate enough to own one of the original models made in Germany. It IS the best AUTOMOBILE (not a car)I have ever owned in my 60+ years of car ownership. I will NEVER sell it, trade it, or get rid of it in any way. We have an 18-year-old marriage, with no possibility of divorce. My one desire is to recondition the Queen to her original condition. Time & economics will have a dampening effect, but this is at the top of my bucket list! Hail to the Caddy Queen!!"

Pros: "Driver friendly, economical & fun to drive"

Cons: "Absolutely none"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"One of the best cars I've ever owned and I'm nearly 72 years old, so I've had more than a few. Reliable, economical, only repairs have been regular maintenance (new tires/brakes, battery, etc.). Has only ever left me stranded when the battery was shorted. Easy to drive and maneuver, an absolute dream. Bought it at a salvage yard due to some collision damage along with the parts necessary to repair it. Paid $2000 for a vehicle then listing for well over $10,000 with only 46,000 miles on it. But then I've driven Oldsmobile and Cadillac all my life and they've saved my life and gotten me through weather situations when others were in the ditch or upside down. Love, love this car. I know there's been a lot of complaints about the Catera, but it helps if you have a GOOD mechanic and not some shade-tree Mr. Fixit. The new cars require specialized equipment and people who know how to use it. I think this has been the cause of many if not most of the complaints about these cars. I'd go back for another one any day but they quit making them so guess I'll have to settle for an Escalade next time."

"At 100,000 miles it had a valve gasket head leak, which ruined the coil packs, the oil filter housing had seized, the coolant is leaking, oil is burning inside the engine internally, and the radiator is shot. Very poor lifetime for what the car was originally worth. Too many problems."

"I bought the vehicle brand new and always had it serviced at the Cadillac dealership. I never had any problems with the vehicle. There were a couple of recall items that had to corrected. The car was a blast to drive and behaved well in the Colorado snow. I loved the layout of the interior and found it to be quite functional. Performance was excellent and the car was well put together. I would definitely purchase again."

"I purchased the sport model back in 2010. I had always loved the way these cars looked, and decided that I would just buy one because. Horrible, horrible mistake. Unfortunately for me, I did not do my research on this car prior to purchase, and I should have. I only owned this car for 3 months before I sold it, and everything that could have possible gone wrong in those 3 months did. I pored more than $2500 into this car in repairs during that time. While this car looked very nice, and had a great interior, that is about all it had going for it that was good."
