Pros: "This has been the best car I have ever owned."

Cons: "They don't make them any more."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I purchased this car new and have enjoyed every mile. I like the styling and comfort of this car. It is a wonderful road car and gets remarkably good mileage for a large car. The trunk is huge which for us is great because we travel quite a bit. I have never kept a car this long in my life but it has given me such great service I hate to part with it. I have only replaced a few components in this car, perhaps $2300.00 worth in 17+ years. Regular maintenance two sets of Michelins, one battery and the afore mentioned maintenance in 133000 miles is great service. I hope my next car is half this good. In all the years that I have had this Riviera it has never failed me. I love the burgundy color with matching interior and have had compliments on it from the beginning."

Pros: "starting to be a classic"

"sporty car, lots of power (no hot rod by any means) it is supercharged (adds 20 h.p.) reliable, I have put on 45,000 miles in last 2 years. some repairs like a/c, idle sensor, the hardest to find was the plate has a computer in the plate, that the three coils sit on. That plate with the p/c wears out and nobody knows about it. Highlights is the amount of room (at least width wise). Very comfy. all the comforts of most caddys of the time. and for the size of the car it gets great mileage. 19 city 24 hwy for this size of car, not bad. no major repairs yet."

Pros: "A joy to drive & trouble free, classic styling."

Cons: "None"

"I purchased this car new and added the few options available, diamond white paint, chrome wheels, moon roof, and the supercharged motor. It has seen two winters and has spent most of it's time in heated storage since. It has all kinds of power, rides smoothly with no rattles or outside noises. A big bonus is that it gets 28MPG on the highway One of the best ever made! Too bad Buick doesn't make them anymore."

Pros: "Style, dependability, comfort, quiet,"

Cons: "Paint has not held up as well as the car."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I am the original owner of a 1997 Supercharge Riv., with 190,000 miles. It was a daily driver, is rust free and no weather related leaks. No major repairs...just normal maintenance, other than,radiator/water pump replaced after 12 years. Engine does not burn oil, Trans. works perfectly. Original AC still working without any repairs or service. All Electronics still working...gas gauge sometimes reads incorrectly. Supercharger only had periodic oil changes and is trouble free...as is my experience with the whole car....the only thing it needs after all these years is a paint (White Diamond) job. Gas mileage is usually 20+ MPG with mixed driving. All city driving about 15+ MPG. Interior is like new with only the driver's seat showing most of the aging. Still love driving this car."

"I have owned 6 rivieras and have had high mileage on all of them. the 1997 gets great mileage and I haven't had to do any major repairs--just what one would expect on a 17 year old car with 271,000 miles on it."
