Pros: "electric seats, great AC/ heat, comfortable"

Cons: "Dies sometimes. needs some repairs."

"Starts and runs. Needs body work on passenger door, trim, and mirror but the mirror and wiring are with vehicle. 1 family owner. Interior is maroon and in good shape but the head liner is loose and needs to be put back up. Head liner has no damages. Tires are a year old and look like new. Tires are 80,000 mile tires so should last. Brake lines were all replaced and front brakes were changed. I think that the car will need shocks eventually. Mechanic replaced fuel pump 11-15 and now there is a squeal. Start and drives well but cuts out and dies at times but wait a few minutes and it will restart and run fine."

"I had one silver color loved it all my friends back then made fun of me driving a Buick but I got to 60 in about 7 or seconds with it. No fast car but would take most inline 4s and a lot of v6s in its day. Blew the doors off my buddy’s 1995 Nissan Maxima at the time. Car gave me no problems. I sold it with 186,000 miles only major job I did was replace the Trans at 125,000 miles. Paint shined like new when I sold it. I added mud flaps, rain guards (tinted plastic on all four doors), and I tinted the windows half chrome half black. I would do it again. Sold for a 2003 Chevy Impala LS which I also liked a lot."

Pros: "Dependable, soft riding and great handling"

Cons: "As stated, the DRL function, cheap cup holders"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"My first GM car. I recently purchased my 97 w/ 41k miles from an older couple. Everything still works great. It rides, handles and stops very good. I guess my only gripe would be the daytime running lamps, there's no way to turn off the head lites while driving during the daytime. There are some common mechanical issues you read about on the net but I have not had any issues. They do tend to have some rust develop behind the front wheels. If you keep the leaves out and flush out that area once in a while, you will be fine. The engine/ transmission are well matched for this vehicle."

"Excellent vehicle. It will out last its frame & suspension. After 200000 plus, no smoke, good compression but front cradle frame began to rust & entire engine began to sag. Replaced with used cradle & new bushings and runs like new."

"I bought this car just for a temporary car until I found a better one, I considered it a a dull, boring old school 1999, same dash since the 70's, I wanted a cool hip non domestic vehicle like a used BMW, Infinity, Nissan, Mazda, whatever... After awhile I started getting used to it, it rides smooth and at 200hp, fast enough. Soon the thing grew on me and I was impressed with the comfortable ride and reliability. I expected an American car to feel cheap and be unreliable, I've been driving foreign cars since the 80's. This Buick changed my mind and I'm going to keep it as long as I can, I recommend to anyone..."
