"This was a great car except the transmission had to be rebuilt at 36,000 miles and it was close to needing it again when we donated it to NPR at 136,000 miles. Buick worked with us the first time and as I remember it we each paid 50% of the cost to fix it. We also had all the power windows motors break with the driver's window breaking twice. It was a very expensive repair so we only fixed the front windows and had the back windows blocked so they would stop falling down."
"This is a great car! I average 23 - 25 miles per gallon in town and 35-38 miles to the gallon on the highway. It is comfortable to ride in short or long trips. I have always had it serviced and it has repaid me very well!"
"I bought this Buick Century Brand new-with all the features I desired in a car. It has been a faithful vehicle--got to where I was going and back safely without any trouble. I had my 1st accident in 49 yrs---hit a truck bumper made of railroad tie, damage to right front fender and bumper--repairs were $1500----other than that, wonderful vehicle. going for a lease for a Buick Encore when Century is in trouble. She is starting to rust on the rocker panels......A Buick is an outstanding automobile....."
"This Car is a real winner ! 25 mpg always!Less than 500.00 tn Repairs since Bought 6 - 07. I was looking at Camary. This is Just as much Car for a LOT LESS $ I especially like the 60 - 40 Split seat and the Collum Shift.COMFORTABLE especially for a big person. Nice on the Highway ,and in Town. Roomy Trunk. COLD AIR. 1 recharge 4 - 12. Wish it had a full size spare, GM had the room !Also wish it had a keyway on passengers front door. Plenty of Horse Power,Real good sound system.Easy to see out of.No blind spots.Trunk lid could be designed better.Opening it when raining the water seems to funnel in. 9.5 overall. "I bought this car with 60,000 miles on it last summer, everything on it works, A/C, windows everything. It looks new from the outside and its styling is beautiful. It's a very quiet, comfortable ride. The only problem I had with the 3100 SFI V6 engine was the intake manifold gasket began to leak, but because I bought it for about $1,000-2,000 less than a comparable Toyota or Ford, it was worth it. Since fixing that, this car hasn't given me any trouble at all. I typically average 29 MPG in mixed driving here in Florida.
All in all, I'd definitely buy another Buick Century, the only thing you need to watch out for is the intake manifold gasket, and you're good to go."
"Really liked the 2001 Buick Century roomy mid-size, 60/40 front split seats, simple easy to use controls for A/C, radio, rear defogger etc. And the gearshift on the STEERING COLUMN and not the big center consoles that cars have now...... And the beige/gold color, the paint colors now for Buick, Chevrolet, Ford are not good. When I bought in 2001 had the dealer upgrade to nicer radio with CD, still works good. Had the car 14 years, selling it now."
