Pros: "Great top down or top up 2 seater"

Cons: "Don't expect to haul 2 golfers/clubs to the course"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I have had this car for 3 years and it has given me no problems. I use it as a daily driver and regularly get in the 26-28mpg highway range. Cruise control and close to the speed limit (I do have a V1 radar detector, so you can draw your own conclusions about the speed limit reference) and have gotten as high as 30 on the highway. 22-23 around town is about average. I am very happy with this car and it still turns heads even though it is 17 years old. Playing golf is a challenge as the clubs must go in the passenger seat. I am 6'1" 215# so I am not the smallest guy on the block, but I have no problems driving this car. I wouldn't want to be much taller however. The trunk is big enough to put $100 worth of groceries in. Not the most practical car I have ever owned, but certainly one of the most fun and reliable. I know it can get expensive to repair at some point."

"I am 60 yr old this is the most fun to drive car I have ever owned. Good feel of road enough power to excite. The only down side it is a little hard for a tall person (over 6 ft ) to get in and out of but comfortable inside."

Pros: "This car is FUN to drive"

Cons: "I don't like the position of the cup holder"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I have never drove a car that was so smooth, and if you like the wind in your hair...this is it. The hood is long and sloping and with the short rear end it renders a timeless look. The dashboard and interior give you that classic sports car feel. I've owned this car about six years, and its been very reliable. I average 27 mpg, and on a trip on the back roads, where I never drove over 55, I averaged a whopping 35 mpg. You do have to mind the speed. It accelerates fast and if your not watching, your speed can easily increase beyond the limit."

Pros: "Looks and sounds like a sports car with class"

Cons: "Driver's car...no fluff or plush seats"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I am the second owner coming off of a lease with 39,000 miles in 2005. Some touch up painting for scrapes, nicks and a door that had been "keyed'. Front bumper/nose bonnet replaced (upgrade) with BMW part (not aftermarket). Regular maintenance and only the battery has been replaced. Have never had mechanical issues. Tires are new sticky Goodrich g-force (mixed width wheels fore and aft) that hold the road like it's on rails. Color is silver w/black conv. top and black leather interior. M steering wheel and shifter."

Faster than a Miata; cheaper than Porsche

Pros: "fast, brakes, handling, engine"

Cons: "Who needs cupholders? Firm ride"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"The Z3 was BMW's answer to the cheap and cheerful Miata. Four cylinder versions are underpowered; 6-cylinders are adequate (2.5, 2.8) to ample (3.0) to insane (Z3M). Other than the known weakness of BMW 6-cylinder engine cooling systems of this era, the car has been stone reliable. Best solution for the cooling system is to replace everything -- radiator, expansion tank, water pump, thermostat, hoses -- at 60K miles, which is what I did, before any failure. Staggered tires on this model tame the trailing throttle oversteer of earlier models. Seats are a little basic; but the car is fun to drive, fast, and won't put you in jeopardy."
