My "Millenium Falcon"

"Wow...what can a mere mortal say but bow to the Engineering guys at BMW M Workes.....Had an E90 328I sport sedan as my first BMW....Knew I had to have an M after about two weeks. Found and bought my E46 M3 sight unseen except a few good photos, clean DMV check and Carfax..wrote a check...the rest is History..SMG, Harmon Kardon, leather, MAGICAL 3.2 inline 6....Now at 50K miles...Rouge Engineering full exhaust, carbon fiber grills, rear diffuser, front splitter, Stop tech slotted rotors, ESS Intercooled Supercharger 550 Kit...P285's on the back, 255's on the front....STOCK..This was an amazing car...I just wanted to make it better but NOT change it's manner, it's character, it's INTENDED Function...and, Honestly, I got LUCKY I didn't screw it up...If you have EVER wanted to own a piece of magical engineering and a proud Flag waiver of a small but Focused company...Get One of These...yes, $180 oil changes, which include a Mandatory 150 point inspection to be Fair...40K service @ $1500 for a full valve adjustment and VANOS check..and another 150 point inspection....Insurance LOVE'S me..LOL But hey...there's an old saying..."NEVER FEEL SORRY FOR A GUY WITH A BMW" If you can foot the Bill....GO FOR IT...I PROMISE You, you wont even think about the check you just wrote after about two miles......."

Pros: "Great price for the type of car."

Cons: "SMG is bad in automatic mode"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I have had this car for several years, and yet this crazy stock S54 I6 engine can still smoke most of these new stock V8 powered sports cars (SRT8, SS, and others) on cornering and quarter mile. The car itself looks great for being more than a 10 years old. The drive is fantastic, you just point, hit the gas, and magically you are there!! Anyone looking for a great sports car should really consider a E46 M3, find a good one, and it will not disappoint you, and you will have fun driving it everyday."

Pros: "is an M3 (sound, handling)"

Cons: "is a BMW from the 2000's (quality)"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"Had this car since new (since 2006), sold with blown engine in late 2014. I did 3 HPDE track events in the 8 years i owned i, and yearly oil changes (bmw oil and schedule) and all maintenance as factory recommended. Something happened last year, reliability crashed catastrophically. Broken ac, peeling nav screen, inner liner falling, rear seat tearing, front suspension bushings, very loose stick, and the final straw the blown engine driving on the highway . All this happened in the span of 6-8 months. if it wasn't for these issues, i would rate it higher. other than that, great ride. put a smile on my face everyday i drove it. checkout instagram #whybmwsfailcatastrophically"

Pros: "Beautiful sports car with class and muscle"

Cons: "M3 suspension could have a "softer" option"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"E46 M3 quite possibly the most classy bang for the buck, beautiful to admire, comfortable to drive, handles like it's glued to the road, if you ever "unglue" it the stability control gets you back on track. The SMG paddle shift 6 speed is a blast, take it to the track and compete with whomever in the corners and the straights. Those 333 horses are always ready to kick it up to 8k rpm !!"

Pros: "the sound, speed, pick-up, cornering, ragtop"

Cons: "my aging body/legs - not the car's fault"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I have had my car for 5 years, I am 3rd owner. Its been babied by each, never winter driven in the snow and ice, AND SALT! With some leg injury issues it gets uncomfortable over long drives, but I seem to forget that as soon as I get where I am going, or until the next long drive! I love this car, it is so tight still, freaks out my Porsche owning friends that it redlines over 8k (theirs redline out at 6500!), sounds so boss, and looks like a panther. Every time I start thinking about replacing it with something newer, or supposedly hotter, I look at it again, or someone goes "wow", and I drop the idea cold."

Pros: "Great handling looks engine and chassis"

Cons: "Expensive to maintain, repairs can be $$$"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Perhaps the ultimate M3. Last of the naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engines BMW is famous for, the E46 M3 is a driver's car through and through. Extremely reliable, fast and great handling, this has been the ultimate driving machine for me. Thanks BMW!"
