"Amazing engine, chassis, handling, design, quality & reliability. Bought CPO in 2004 along with free maintainance & drivetrain warranty. Engine was replaced when engine knocking problem arose due to pre-existing recall on certain S54 engines at 30k miles (covered by warranty). My M coupe is not my daily driver but no problems when driven everyday. Florida heat is a bit more than what the AC system wants to handle and long highway distances could've been better if sixth gear was there to relax the engine a bit. Acceleration is vicious, handling is nothing short of amazing except for tendency of the soft back suspension of the car to squat when accelerating. That's why I installed stiffer shocks, but no real need for any modification. If your looking at this car, then you know what it's about and it is no less than perfect for what your looking for."
"I went in to my BMW dealer to buy an M3. They had a bright yellow M Coupe on the showroom floor that someone had ordered, but their financing fell through. This was in May of 1999. I've owned it for over nine years now, and the magic is still there.
Before I owned this car, the longest I had a car was about two years. I just can't let go of this one, though.
It's like driving a go-cart, yet it's comfortable for long trips. The large hatch area means that you can carry substantial luggage (or groceries), so it's much more practical than most 2-seaters.
It has GOBS of torque. You can be in 5th gear at 60mph, and give it gas, and it will throw you back. Unlike turbo cars, this car is all natural. From a standstill, it has full thrust, no waiting for a turbo to spin up.
I didn't give it 5 stars for reliability because, let's face it, a Honda or Toyota will be more reliable. It's been rock-solid for me, though.
I'm starting to think that I'll still own it nine years from now."
