Review this carBy Gene (CA) on Thursday, June 13, 2013
I own this car - My approximate mileage is 143,000
overall rating 8 of 10rating detailsPros: "Great price, comfortness and stylish."
Cons: "I do not have any cons to say for this car."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"Very comfortable, very stylish and I am very satisfy to own this car. The ride is totally incomparable to any other cars. People say that this car is expensive to maintain but if you can search for the aftermarket parts it is completely reasonable. Of course in case major breakdowns like engine or transmission, every car is expensive to repair, not only this BMW."

"this car is great it handles like a new car and has sooooo many random little gadget typ things I'm constantly finding a new button. these are are suprisingly fast and mine averages 21.7 mpg 25.9 on highway (it has a gauge to show your real time mpg and average) my car has so many random (useful) accessories it makes my dads 2010 camaro seem like its from the 80s. the BMW 7 series is wwaayyy ahead of its time."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 173,300
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "I clearly love the car!!"
Cons: "Feel I out grew it, just need something smaller."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Bought my '01 in '02 for $47k w/ 41k miles on it. I now have 173k miles on it. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU! LOVE THE CAR, THE LOOK!! Gas mileage, not so much with gas at $4 a gallon, but COME ON, the car ROCKS! So many compliments! Only thing now, need to part ways before it starts to really cost me in repairs etc. I'm now looking at a 5 Series because the 7 series back then, is just too much car for me today!"

I owned and sold this car
Reason: money pit - My approximate mileage is 180,000
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1
"Car just doesn't hold up to daily driving. Broken cupholder(though too small anyway), cheap console pieces, pixels on dash dont last, radio not as nice as you'd expect,. Great image car that breaks the bank to keep running. Looks great if parked in driveway...issues with AC,$650 to get ignition key out of the column (common), hood cable broke...on and on."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: High miles - My approximate mileage is 198,870
Pros: "Powerful engine, very comfortable, handling"
Cons: "Repairs maybe costly. High city consumption"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have had several BMW's and so far the E38 is the best. Extremely comfortable, if you have the full functioning seats. I own two 3 series now and will be looking for a low milage sports package soon. Repairs can be expensive but if you are mechanically inclined you can do most of the work yourself. I have to say any BMW engine is as simple as a honda, you just ge to to know it. I put on average 30k every year on my 7 and never left me on the road except for a blown tire. So yes, if you can find a well maintained 7 series and do not mind the maintanence I strogly recommend the vehicle."
