"This is my second 7 series BMW. The first ran like new at 260k + miles! when we parted company due to an accident. Any less substantially constructed vehicle, may not have preserved my life. Built like a tank, glides like 747 jet, and does 120 mph with intrepidity. Were the new model more affordable, I'd try one...unfortunately, the $120k is not within my current budget. Perhaps, a certified pre-owned vehicle is my destiny...."

Best investment in a car I've ever made.

"Purchased my '97 740IL with 50K and have put 190K on it. Still a great-looking, great-running car. Repairs have been minimal--new catalytic converters the most expensive item. Great handling, comfort and power. Front and back seats extremely comfortable with spacious leg room. Very happy with purchase."

Fun to drive, but expensive to own and maintain.

"This car has been a double edged sword. It's cool to "have" and fun to drive. However, it has been the most expensive car to own and maintain that I have ever had - and I have owned 44 cars. Now, at 14-years old, it is unreliable. I have spent over $1000 trying to find an intermittent electrical leak that causes it to drain the battery overnight. Sometimes it's fine for months. Then all of a sudden it's dead in the morning. this makes it practically useless as a daily driver. Conclusion: I loved it, but now I hate it - and it will be worth almost nothing if I try to sell it with the electrical problem. Good Will, here it comes..."

"Interior and exterior trim, seating and seat belt connections deteriorate quickly. Headlight and stop light contacts erode and require replacement. Repair and maintenance costs are extremely high."

"Great luxory car and suprisingly good on gas! Take a long trip, seats are comfortable, back seat has tons of leg room. Features on this car are beyond its time. Only bad thing is some of the led lights go out on the dash read out. Haven't looked into the price to fix that."

"Was a good car in all. Frame felt solid. Think it was a little short on some of the appointments and build qualities, like having effective cup holders for a $65k car. Exterior rubber was dissolving towards the end of us having it. Window regulators broke all the time (every window broke twice at $400 a whack!). Everything was overly expensive to fix. Bought a MBZ to replace. Let's see if that is any better. Had the car for 13 years, so you can't say we didn't give it our best, and gives you a good idea of BMW endurance."
