Drivers who love engaging their left foot will rejoice that M6 performance variants can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission in lieu of the 7-speed double-clutch automatic. For just 100 buyers, there is a limited Frozen Brilliant White Edition convertible. All 2014 BMW 6 Series models receive updates to their navigation systems.
New 2013 6 Series Gran Coupes debuted in spring, 2012 offering the same features and powertrains as the coupes and convertibles, and the 650i models' TwinPower turbo V8 is upgraded to 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, 45 more horses and 30 more lb-ft than in 2012. The M6 Coupe and Convertible boast BMW's most powerful production engine ever, a 560-hp 4.4-liter TwinPower turbo V8, up five hp with the same 500 lb-ft of torque as the V10 it replaces, and 25 percent more fuel efficient.
The 2012 BMW 6 Series is about as all-new as an all-new model can be. Aside from an overwhelming list of new features and technologies, the 6 Series lineup will now include a 6-cylinder turbo engine option (640i Coupe and 640i Convertible) and available all-wheel drive (650i xDrive Coupe and 650i xDrive Convertible). Later we'll see a high-performance M6 model and a first-ever 4-door 6 Series in the spirit of the Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7.
This year's Sport Package is upgraded to include new 19-inch forged alloy wheels, an anthracite-color headliner (Alcantara in the Coupe or fabric in the Convertible), dark chrome exhaust tips, a contoured hood, sport-tuned exhaust and sport seats with Shadowline trim.
The 2015 BMW 6 Series slots between the 5 and 7 Series cars with a coupe, a convertible, and a 4-door that BMW calls a "Gran Coupe," but we all know is really just a sleek sedan. Sleekness is all part of the game though, as the 6 Series is designed to offer eye-catching style over practical transportation. All three models offer plenty of style and performance, with engines ranging from a turbocharged 6-cylinder to a couple different V8 models. With roots that trace back to the late 1970s, the 3rd-generation 6 Series remains a leader in grand touring, even against such tough competitors as the Jaguar XK, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Audi S5.
