"I loved my 2005 Audi A6 and then the valves supposedly went. I say supposedly becasue there is still a thought that the time chain should have been look at instead. Still not sure since I need to get a second opinion also, the leather seemed to crack all over and I owned the car from day one."

Pros: "Great smooth ride, excellent with snows"
Cons: "Way too many problems for $48,000 car"

"Always serviced at Audi!! 14 months after owning this car the leather seats began to crack, by this time I had replaced two or 3 window switches, at 52,000 miles it needed a transmission Audi US, not dealer paid 1/2 so my share was $3500. Replaced a few more window switches. Sometimes window would not roll up. At 105,000 miles was told I needed new valve stem sensors for $1100.00 Rode around with bad valve stems, got a flat bought all new snow tires ($1200) at 114,000 miles and got Valve stems replaced, worked for 7 miles. (Only work not done at Audi) Now car does not always start, it let me down 3 out of 5 times gives me error message "take weight off steering" not in the manual and two Audi dealers never heard of the message. Love the car loved the ride just not 100% not dependable at this age. Going to trade it in, will get poor trade in because of valve stem problem and not sure if it will start. 116,000 Miles Bye Bye Audi. Back to Volvo!"

"Best car I have ever owned. Bought it new in late 2004 and this car has been fantastic. Has many very amazing options that you still don't find on cars today. Love this car and think it is a fantastic value."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 40,000overall rating 9 of 10rating details
Pros: "performance, handling, comfort, attentiontodetail"
Cons: "dashboard user interface is over complicated"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have owned the A6 3.0T for about 2 months now and so far I have been very pleased. The handling and performance is unbelievable. The attention to detail with little comforts is what really makes it a luxury sport sedan. (lighting, locking, temp control, refined quality) I had two Hondas previous to the switch to Audi. The room and comfort in the A6 makes the car perfect for passenger and driver comfort. My only complaint in comparison to the Hondas is the user interface with controlling the stereo, gps, cruise control etc. The Audi has a learning curve where as the Hondas system is much more user friendly. Hondas UI is also integrated with the steering wheel controls a lot better. You never have to take your hands off the wheels for controlling stereo, gps or cruise control. The Audi has a separate button for everything and you have to initially hunt for it and take your hands off the wheel. Other than that though it out performs the Honda equivalents in every other way. The handling alone is something you just have to go test drive to understand. The car just feels amazing in your hands while remaining comfortable for all passengers and then tons of easy power."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 114,500overall rating 9 of 10rating details
Pros: "Fun to drive, not as expensive as you think"
Cons: "Must use premium gas, only about 450 mi. on 1 tank"

"While 4.2L v8s seem a little impractical for sedans in the world of high gas prices, this car surprisingly gets good mileage for a v8. Despite what the internet says or the books, I have been getting about 25+-2 mpg HWY and about 20+-2 MPG city which is pretty good for a v8. Put it into sport mode and you'll forget it's a 4 door sedan and will be quite pleased with the pickup. The power isn't bad either, beating my father's 2010 F-150 by about 5 more horses! Audi is known for quality and this A6 is no exception. Don't let the age fool you, it maintains its value quite well and the technology is always very impressive. Quite easy and inexpensive to work on I might add. It was harder to work on a Ford Ranger we have and comparable parts are cheaper. Foreign cars are not always harder and more expensive, I believe that is just a misconception, unfortunately, or a thing of the past. I just recently changed the coil packs and spark plugs on mine in about 1.5 hours. Costing me about $180 for 8 spark plugs and 8 coil packs. The only major and expensive repair I had to do was get an oil leak fixed and those cars are known for that. Another thing is that the adaptive headlights no longer work, which I don't really care about since I bought it used, but I was quoted about $900 to repair. No big deal though as people, including myself, have been driving with out this added luxury for decades and the headlights work fine still. Other than that, I plan on keeping this car until well passed 200,000 miles! All in all if you take care of this car, it will take care of you. Use synthetic oil, premium gas with cleaner every once in a while, regular tune ups etc. P.S plenty of room. Trunk space is with out equal and there is room for 2 adult men and a car seat in the back (trust me I've done it) with plenty of leg room."
