"We started having problems with this car before it came out of warranty, there were nonstop coolant problems, continuously for years. We poured 15-20k into this car, it was a nightmare. The clutch was replaced, timing belt replaced three times, twice within one week (mechanic….a nightmare too, put it in incorrectly….blamed the manufacturers, but it was he who put it in incorrectly, we believed). Brakes lights hugely expensive to replace. Catalytic converter problems. Tons of other issues. NEVER NEVER buy an audi unless you want to be plaqued with huge bills and if you wish to keep your sanity intact. Every time we put a couple of thousand into the beast, we hope that it would start paying for itself, it never panned out. Pluses about it - it is fantastic in the snow. Now at 184k miles and a hellish time of repair costs it is running smoothly (something I am afraid to say in case the timing belt goes again). Audi dealership….less than honest, less than helpful, we had a horrific experience with them.""

Pros: "Great looks"

Cons: "Very expensive to maintain. Horribly unreliable."

"I bought this car new in 2004 for my wife. It only has 54,000 miles on it (not bad for a 10 year old car). It has had the following components replaced in the past 4 years: the air conditioning compressor, sunroof control, front and rear transmission seals (leaking fluid all over my garage), left front wheel bering, left front tie rod and 3 sets of tires. It hardly gets driven. It is garage kept and is in immaculate condition (looks new). It has had bi-annual service by the dealer. It has still cost me over $4000. I will never buy another Audi."

"Audi A4 1.8 turbo- Nine years, 160,000 miles and $15,000 in repairs for the last 110,000 miles. Pros: bumper to bumper coverage while under warranty was great. Fun to drive manual trans, gas mileage ranging from 26-32 highway' great traction in rain and snow with Quattro, great sound system, quiet even at 85 mph, solid feel. Cons: once warranty expired at 50,000 miles nothing but repairs, repairs, repairs. I swore after 100,000 miles I would dump it but have to admit I enjoyed the drive when it was running. Expensive premium gas, hard to see dashboard controls, poorly designed heating/cooling system, heated seats that are too hot even at the lowest level. Won't be buying Audi again unless reliability improves."

Pros: "Fun, great Quality..etc"

Cons: "has to have a regular maintenance"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Great car for that price!! Best interior and exterior designe!! 78.000 milles and only regular maintenance done beside a worn front axel and engine mount after 10 years! (300 dollar repair not that bad..) great handling and performance a real sport european car! not like toyota, chevy and other competitors in this price range, you won't want to get off this car just the best buy!! after owning a Camry, impala, sonata, sentra, legacy, S40, and a accord."
