"Bought second hand and added an after-market warranty that covered me well. Biggest problem was failed timing belt at 82,000, but warranty covered. Very spunky car and I wish I had owed the Audi when I was stationed in Germany for the autobahn driving!"
"This is a fantastic little car, though you need to be sure that you have a good contact for servicing it. The dealership isn't generally the way to go, because they'll charge a premium for parts and labor.
The driving dynamic is sporty; it's a low-slung sedan with a perky turbo 4-cylinder that likes to rev and has a nice growl above 3000 rpm.
The interior quality is very good, though the electronics (radio cassette deck, for instance) can have issues.
If you want to learn to work on your car, this is a fun one to do it on! And the styling is timeless."
"When I bought this car I tried every European style 4 door sedan. The Audi was the most comfortable, drove with terrific handling (not hard like a Volvo) and has been so good that I am still driving it! I have never had a major repair. I do all the routine maintenance from the dealer and they know my name and are very fair. It is not as gas efficient as newer cars but it drives so well it is not worth getting a new car yet. Best car I've ever owned."
"This car makes me happy every time I look at it and drive it. It is absolutely beautiful and drives perfectly. It is age only that drives me from it as there are too many repairs too often. This has, in fact, been the story of this car, however. Expensive repairs on a regular basis. But, that said, you can't put a price on some art. Or, on feeling happy."
