Acura's TSX competes in the bustling compact premium sedan market. Although not as large or powerful as the Audi A4 or the new BMW 3 Series, price, quality and exceptional resale value make the TSX a worthy competitor. The TSX delivers an exceptional balance between ride comfort and road handling, and returns fuel economy figures rivaling some economy cars. If you can live without a V6 engine and the option of all-wheel drive, the well-equipped TSX has much to offer, especially when considering its sub-$30,000 price tag.
If you grew up with Honda Civics and Preludes, but your new position in the world demands driving an upscale sedan, you'll love this car. The TSX has the capability to serve as a business vehicle on the weekdays and a driving enthusiast's dream on the weekends. Its tight, six-speed manual transmission and powerful VTEC engine make it a blast to drive.
You may not like the TSX if you are used to a torque-heavy V6 engine that offers up a hefty dose of power below 3000 rpm. Another quibble: Rear-seat legroom might be tight for some adults.
The TSX sees only minor changes for 2007, most notably the addition of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Driving Impressions The TSX is powered by a 2.4-liter 16-valve engine producing 205 horsepower. You have your choice of either a six-speed manual or five-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission. Though quick, the TSX...
lacks the "pit of your stomach" punch only a six- or eight-cylinder engine can provide. You'll observe this when accelerating from a dead stop or when attempting a high-speed passing maneuver.Voice-Activated Navigation
Acura's voice-activated navigation is one of the best in the industry. Not only is it relatively simple to operate, you can vocally ask it to find landmarks, restaurants or gas stations.
Side-Mirror Turn Signals
Acura places the turn signals in the side mirrors. This allows traffic beside you to recognize your intent to change lanes.
Interior
Here is where the magic begins. The TSX's interior is clad in the finest materials, far superior to anything in its price range. Every switch moves as though Teflon-coated and every seam lines up precisely. The seats are wonderfully comfortable and supportive for sporty drives, the dash is handsomely adorned with wood or aluminum and soft-touch vinyl and the instrument panel puts on its own light show once the sun sets; it's all truly a work of art.
Exterior
Though some complain the TSX is rather basic in its execution, we think its sharp lines and clean appearance will stand the test of time better than some of the more trendy designs currently on the market. Build quality is beyond reproach, and the car is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile warranty.
The TSX comes nicely equipped and includes a choice of six-speed manual transmission or five-speed SportShift automatic, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control, Vehicle Stability Assist, 17-inch wheels, heated leather power seats (eight-way for driver, four-way for the passenger), power moonroof, automatic climate control, 360-watt Bose audio with in-dash six-disc changer, steering wheel-mounted controls for cruise and audio, front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, xenon headlamps, fog lights, XM Satellite Radio, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror and remote entry.
The only option is the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition.
The Acura 2.4-liter engine is marvelously silent and smooth. It delivers plenty of punch, though you'll have to rev it until the tachometer needle is well past the 3,000-rpm mark to make the most of the engine's power and torque.
2.4-liter in-line 4
205 horsepower @ 7000 rpm
164 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4500 rpm
EPA city/highway fuel economy: 22/30 (manual), 22/31 (automatic)

"My 2006 has 175,000 miles and is still going strong. I'm keeping it until it has at least 200,000 miles. Once in awhile there have been minor electrical issues with the engine light staying on. Outstanding car for the cost!"

"Purchased in 2004, with 20K miles on it. Absolutely love this car. Great features for its time, the car feels high class even in 2013. I feel like the 1st gen TSX is a timeless car. The reliability is amazing, the build quality shows the true capability of Japanese manufacturing. I hope I can go another 100K miles with it! I have the fully loaded tech package model."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 110,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7
"Very reliable.Quality in and out. 27 mpg average mixed driving.Style is still relevant, doesn't look dated. I am disappointed when Acura never offered an All wheel drive TSX.In Ct. snow can be a challenge for this light, powerful car.Must have snow tires. Would look at a Lexus IS250 AWD for this reason."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 130,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "Styling, handeling, fun to drive, east to maintain"
Cons: "road noise, could be a tad larger"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have owned this car for 3 years now. We bought it with 80k miles on it. We were hesitant with the millage however, we knew it was a "Honda" and we could risk it. Originally we fell for it because of the looks. No other car in our price range was this fully loaded. Then, we learned through an Acura mechanic (that we know as a friend) that this car has a timing belt instead of a chain-so we could rest a little easier about the millage. He also told us that this was a low maintenance vehicle. So far- he was right. We did have to replace the alternator at 115K miles. Only cost $300 so that wasn't horrible considering that has been the ONLY issue we have ever had with the car. The road noise can get a little loud every now and then. Hoping better tires may help this, but, in no way does this make me like my car less. Great car, love the interior, the audio everything. Could not have purchased a better car! And, she has a TON of life left in her!"
