Upon its introduction in 2007, the RDX's only true competitor was the BMW X3, a vehicle that essentially had the compact premium SUV segment all to itself since its introduction for the 2004 model year. For true sport-sedan driving dynamics you still have to buy a sport sedan. The 2010 Acura RDX's SUV chassis might prove too heavy for those looking for car-like handling characteristics.
For 2010, the RDX gets a fresh look, numerous interior upgrades and a lower starting price. It also now comes in two-wheel drive form as standard, offering improved fuel economy.
Driving Impressions With its turbocharged engine, available Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system and fully-independent sport-tuned suspension, the 2010 Acura RDX indeed delivers acceleration and handling levels in line with some sport sedans. Responsive...and eager around town, the RDX will even handle curvy roads with deftness and confidence – although it doesn't provide quite the same feel of integration between driver, machine and road as does the BMW X3. Like a sport sedan, highway ride is taut but comfortable. All-in-all, we enjoyed every mile spent behind the wheel of the RDX.

In addition to compatibility with "just about every type of current audio format," according to Acura, the RDX's optional DVD-Audio system delivers impressive Surround Sound.
Real-Time Traffic Information
As part of the RDX's satellite communication system, the navigation screen can display real-time traffic speeds and accident information many major cities, making it easy to see problems ahead and find the best way around them.
The athletic exterior design is complemented inside by sport-style seats covered in perforated leather, a sculpted three-spoke steering wheel and metallic trim. With or without the comprehensive Technology Package the RDX's interior features a dynamic, high-tech ambiance. One of the more functional features is a huge center console that's big enough to swallow a laptop computer. Most will find the back seat cozy without being cramped, while fold-flat rear seats extend the capacity of an already-generous cargo area.Exterior
The RDX conveys its performance potential in the form of 18-inch wheels, a raked version of the familiar five-point grille, dual-outlet exhaust and a "turbo" badge on the back. A unique feature is the unconventional tailgate that is integrated into the rear bumper, unlike other SUVs, providing a smoother look to the rear end. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are included as standard equipment.
The 2010 Acura RDX's impressive standard-equipment list includes a glass moonroof, HID headlamps, rear view camera, heated front seats, 18-inch wheels and a 360-watt sound system featuring a seven-speaker in-dash six-disc CD/MP3/WMA player, XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth and a USB port and auxiliary input jack for portable MP3 players. A long list of standard safety equipment includes front, front-side and two-row side-curtain airbags plus electronic stability and traction control systems.
A comprehensive Technology Package and all-wheel drive are the only available options for the 2010 Acura RDX. In the tech package, you'll find a navigation system with voice recognition and real-time traffic information, GPS-linked solar-sensing climate control and a 410-watt, 10-speaker audio system that features XM Satellite Radio plus DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II processing. Surprisingly, the tech-savvy RDX doesn't offer remote-sensing unlock and start.
Featuring the first turbocharged engine to power an Acura (or Honda) automobile for sale in the U.S., the 2010 Acura RDX's 260 pound-feet of torque is the most ever for a Honda product – even more than the dear, departed Acura NSX. Thanks in part to a sophisticated variable-flow turbo, the four-cylinder engine delivers the quick response and minimal lag associated with smaller turbochargers plus the high-rpm boost of a bigger turbo. The Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system is able to transfer torque not just from front to rear, but also between the two rear wheels, providing both safety and performance advantages. Unlike the BMW X3, the RDX is not available with a manual transmission.

"I purchased this car from a dealer last spring. I purchased it online without having first inspected it-the ultimate mistake. I discovered that the "leather" seats were pleather- Acura's way of saying we are concerned about animals, but more concerned about our bottom line. The car was 2 years old when it arrived and had about 25,000 miles...Thank God the warranty was still available! Within a few months, the battery cables had corroded, leaving me stranded twice. Acura eventually replaced them for free. The car is loud. When I'm driving, the noise is really a distraction. Yes, there are new tires on it. Now, the serpentine belt, I'm told, needs replacing. There a loud squealing noise when I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. The Acura dealership is behind so I cannot bring it in for about 10 days! Hope my mileage stays under 50,000 between now and then. Also, the lift gate does not open from inside the car and there isn't a button on the back door to automatically close it...yes, I'm a bit spoiled. Not happy with this car. Looking for something new....SOON!"

"All service has been kept up to date per Honda requirements. Tires less than 1 year old.This car has never crashed, never had body work. Good sound system, heated leather seats, great handling, 240-horsepower turbocharged 4-cyl has great power. Looks good and fun to drive. From Edmunds: Safety Standard safety features for the 2007 Acura RDX include front seat-mounted side airbags, head-protecting side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, active front head restraints, antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control and a tire-pressure monitor. Interior Design and Special Features Thanks to its leather seating, metallic accents, blue illumination for the gauges and symmetrical dash design, the RDX's interior looks considerably more upscale than the average small SUV. The center console has a storage bin large enough to hold a notebook computer, but otherwise interior storage is average. Folding down the 60/40-split rear seat reveals up to 60.6 cubic feet of cargo room. Driving Impressions Acura has put together some pretty sweet running gear here. Acceleration isn't life-changing but this crossover SUV is certainly quick. The turbocharged engine seems to have been tuned to be torque-friendly down low but still somewhat "revvy" like other Acura engines. Power comes on strong after about 2000 rpm and stays there until the 6800 rpm redline. Thanks to the well-tuned suspension, SH-AWD, quick steering and 235/55-series tires, the Acura RDX can be driven hard on a canyon road with a minimum of drama and plenty of fun. On regular city streets, the ride quality is well within the limits for comfortable driving and commuting."

"Everything about the 2009 RDX is first rate- except- and this is a big except- the ride. It is the worst riding car/suv I have ever owned. You feel every road bump and every road ripple. Concrete roadways with expansion joints every 50 yards is actually comical. "Thump...thump...thump..." I bought new tires to see if that helped but to no avail. Kinda a shame, because we love the car's feel, look , the cargo space and the roomy back seats."

"This car drives like a sport car and handles wonderfully in traffic and the open road. Its not a economy car, however if driven normally I get 20mpg in town and 24 on the road at a steady 75mph. Plenty of cargo room with 61 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded flat."
